the bag

urbanhermes applies a layer of information upon a bag, an object already infused with social meaning. people wear their bags on their bodies as both a gesture of function and a display of fashion. not only do the personal items within the bag contain meaningful signals about the user, but other visible aspects such as the bag's brand, color, style, condition, and integration within an entire outfit emit identity signals to an observant public audience.

all of the dynamic image display functionalities of the bag are not automatically executed, but under the full control of the user. urbanhermes relies on the human's—not the computer's—sense of social, environmental, and personal context.
