• Wirth, L. 1938. Urbanism as a way of life.
• Whyte, William H. 1988. City: Rediscovering the Center. chapter 2.

And two readings about technologies (available online):

• Donath, J. 1995. Visual Who.
• Borovoy, R., Martin, F., Vemuri, S. Resnick, M., Silverman, B. and Hancock, C. 1998. Meme tags and community mirrors: Moving from conferences to collaboration.

Please read all the assigned papers. Write a short critique of one of the urban sociology papers AND of one of the technology papers. For the latter, concentrate on thinking about new directions for these projects: what would you do next?
